Spring is in the air…..

What I would give to have these beautiful Cherry Blossom trees lining our streets….GORGEOUS!!!

While cherry blossoms may not be in full bloom quite yet….it is definitely beginning to look a lot like spring inside the store!  Being in retail I must admit I really do love the change of fashion seasons…even though they come months ahead of any kind of real seasonal change.  By the time Christmas comes and goes I am beyond done with fall clothing and ready to see happy colors and fun prints hanging on the racks and walking in and out of our dressing rooms.  In fact today was a great day to put my boots in the closet and break out my flops…my pale feet may not have thought the same…but I didn’t care…it was time to let these babies get some fresh air.  It was in the 70′s here in San Antonio today and tomorrow the high is 78!  Kind of ridiculous for January, but I am not complaining.  I have market trips to fill my need for freezing cold and possibly snowy weather.

The end of January is an uplifting time at MEADOW!  Our big sale has come to an end and we have brightened up our floor with vivid colors, tons of prints, shorts and dresses.

Tibi, Rebecca Taylor, Tucker, & 12th Street…..just to name a few!

Here is a sneak peak at some of the treasures we have been trying on lately……

I LOVE THIS LOOK!  Everything about it….the 12th Street Sunburst caftan…oh so chic, the layered jewels, the wavy beach hair…  This dress can take you so many places.  A night out with the girls, a fun date with your hubby or boyfriend, or dress it up with a fabulous pair of evening shoes…(I dream of LOUBOU’s), take of the long chain necklaces, tie your hair up in a pretty chignon… and wear it to a wedding.  Who wouldn’t want something this versatile in their closet?

There is sooooo much more to come.  As you have heard me say before….Spring 2011 fashion is so very me & I get excited every time a new box arrives.  Come see what we have in store for Spring!

Market Travels!

I am just returning from a loooooooong week in New York…but it was a blast!  I took Ella with me…and my mom (AKA…the Nanny :)  ) The week would have been horrible if I hadn’t been able to come home to this adorable little face every night!  She had the best time…she tried on sunglasses and hats at Barney’s, had dinner at Nello on Madison Avenue, got her picture taken with the gaurd at FAO Schwartz, strolled in central park and was truly perfect….even on the plane!  Oh the life of a 3 1/2 month old!

Ella!

Back to business…..Let me just say that Spring 2011 looks AWESOME!  I haven’t been this excited about an upcoming season for as long as I can remember.  70′s colors and prints were everywhere…oh….and hold onto your military green because it doesn’t appear as though it is going anywhere anytime soon!

Here’s a peak at a couple of our designers runway shows from Fashion week!

Does anyone else love the look of the 70′s as much as I do….?

I mean….Boho Chic….please come and stay a while…a long while!  I know Boho has been gracing us with its presence for a while now, but this upcoming spring it will be here in full swing!  Every designer I carry at the store (and all of the new ones I will be getting in for spring!!!!) were 70′s inspired to some degree…whether it was in the solid color palettes they chose or their retro prints….it was everywhere.  The 70′s look can definitely make some look as if they stepped right out of the Brady Bunch, but there is another approach that can make one look like a Boho diva with effortless chic & classic style.  I feel like I touch on this subject all the time, but I can’t stress enough how I think everyone should try to achieve this look and their lives will become just that…effortlessly chic!  Add a little boho to your wardrobe  this spring and you will be pleasantly surprised!

P.S. I think I felt the first breath of Fall outside this morning…it inspired me to rock my boots to the store today…eventhough the high ended up being 82 degrees!

Happy Monday….night!

Food meets Fashion!

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

Everyone knows that here at Meadow we love to shop, but we love eating out almost as much!  No longer limited to enchiladas and barbeque, the San Antonio dining scene has undergone an exciting makeover during the past few years.  Stylish eateries are popping up all over the city.  Here are some of our favorites, as well as tips on what to wear to these new hot spots!

1. Il Sogno

Located in the Pearl Brewery, chef Andrew Weissman’s Italian venture is every foodie’s dream date spot.  Set in a sleek, dimly lit space, decadent dishes like risotto primavera and seared Italian sea bass are prepared in the restaurant’s exposed kitchen.  Be sure to try an antipasti sampler before dinner, and order the nutella tart to cap off your meal! Wear something a little bit flirty while dining at this romantic new osteria. Try Rebecca Taylor’s “Must Have” Dress paired back with Rachel Leigh Jewelry and a wristlet clutch by Beirn. Bellisima!

2. Bistro Bakery

We are so lucky that our next door neighbors just happen to make the tastiest pastries  and baked goods in town! Walking into the Bistro Bakery you immediately feel like you are in an authentic french boulangerie. You must try the grapefruit and pistachio tart- I know it sounds weird, but trust me it is the BEST! Keep it casually chic in white skinny jeans by J-Brand, Rachel Pally’s over sized nautical striped shirt, and Hazel Smyth Jewelry. After breakfast or lunch, be sure to walk next door and say bonjour to us at Meadow.

3. Liberty Bar

Though it’s been a San Antonio staple for years, Liberty Bar’s recent move to funky southtown means a new chapter in the life of this iconic restaurant.  Now housed in a bright pink building that used to be a convent (you can’t miss it), Liberty Bar is still serving up the same eclectic regional favorites that it has been for years.  If you’re feeling like stepping outside the box for dinner or lunch, this is the place to go!  Peruse some of the local shops and galleries in and around King William while you’re down there. We suggest wearing an artsy ensemble to maintain the neighborhood’s alternative vibe: try Tucker’s mini dress in “tric trac” with jewelry by Pyrrha.

We can’t wait to see you out and about at these great places in some of our fabulous frocks- Bon Appetit!

New York, New York!

Friday, February 26th, 2010

With Fashion Week behind us and having been to Coterie (The NY market that is held twice a year in the city)…. I must say that I LOVE NY!  My husband and I just returned from a buying trip to NY…..don’t worry I didn’t drag him around the market or showroom appointments with me!  Not only did I get to see what’s to come for Fall 2010, but I managed to have enough down time to enjoy the city with my husband.  There was a time in my life where the thought of being a New Yorker sounded exciting and glamourous (how many of you have felt like that at some point?), however I must say that at this stage in life it is perfect to visit every few months.  Our biggest challenge while we were there was deciding on restaurants!  We did manage to come across some fabulous finds for both fashion and dining.  Usually I have always dined at the staples that my family has been to since I was a little girl….this time we branched out.  We stayed downtown in Soho at a great hotel and walked around as if a pregnant girls feet don’t swell!  Here are a few places I would highly recommend if you ever make it to the city.

1.  PIPA

Pipa

This restaurant is part of ABC Carpet and Home….and it is incredible for both Lunch and Dinner.  We only had time to eat lunch here…it was so good we went back for seconds on Day 2!

2.  Market Table

WEST VILLAGE

This quaint little restaurant is nestled on a corner in West Village.  The atmosphere, the food and the staff were perfect.  We will definitely go back!

Ok…back to fashion!  Here is a little preview from Rebecca Taylor for Fall 2010…….

fall 4fall 3

I love the texture, fur and animal prints!  I have never really been that big of an animal print person, but after seeing what’s to come for Fall, I have become a huge fan!  Not to worry…none of this is too heavy for Texas weather!  We will keep posting photos from Fall…so stay tuned!

See you soon!
