Spring Is Here!

Thursday, March 7th, 2013

Spring has officially sprung here at Meadow, and we are loving all of our new shipments!  One of my favorite parts about the fashion biz is seeing what the new trends are going to be for the season.  I admit that not all trends are easy to pull off, but by tailoring them to your personal style you are sure to be a fashionista this Spring!

Some of the hottest looks from the Spring 2013 runways were black and white, stripes, anything bright, lace & leather! It is almost time to put the chunky sweaters away and start adding one or two of these Spring must have trends to your wardrobes.

Whether it is day or night don’t be afraid to rock your favorite Spring trends!

XOXO

SO VERY THANKFUL!

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

This year Thanksgiving has snuck up on me as I am sure it has for many of you.  Every now and then we all need to stop what we are doing to realize just how lucky we are.

I am thankful for so many things this Thanksgiving and everyday for that matter.  Here is my short list of happiness…it would take a long time to list everything!

 I AM THANKFUL FOR…..

1.  The most funny and adorable 2 year old little girl in the world……and the loving and handsome husband that comes with her….they are tied for first!

2. Healthy family and friends

3.  MEADOW  and all of our AMAZING customers and friends.  Meadow would not be what it is without you!  Thank you for all of your support the past three years!  It has been incredible getting to know each and every one of you!  Being able to do what I love is a true gift and we wouldn’t be here without you!

4.  The best employees that I could have ever dreamed of having!  They are my brain on days that I am on overload!  We can truly complete each others thoughts!  They have helped make Meadow what it is today and I wouldn’t be able to do it without them!

So that is my short list….I could go on and on, but at the end of the day….friends and family matter the most!   I hope everyone takes a moment to be Thankful for all of lifes blessings this week!

HAPPY HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Enjoy your feast with your nearest and dearest!

XOXO ~ Susanna

Step Into Fall With The Right Footwear

Fall Shoes

Now that Fall has finally arrived it is time to put away the Tkees sandals and slide on some Joie booties. In the store right now we are all loving the Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent tall “Winthrop” riding boots, they are the perfect combination of classic and effortless style. If you are wanting to make a statement when you walk in a room then the Diane Von Furstenberg tall black boot is perfect for you! Since we are all sandal girls here at MEADOW and it is still warm here in Texas, flats have been a great fall shoe option. Everyone has been obsessed with all of the Melissa flats that are in the store right now, especially the leopard smoking slipper pictured above.

So whether you are ready to jump into a pair of tall boots or perfectly printed flats we have a variety of fall shoe options to fit your style. Don’t forget to share your photos of your Meadow finds on Instagram @meadow_boutique

Designer Spotlight: Evocateur

Tuesday, October 16th, 2012

My favorite thing about putting on a show stopping accessory is that it tells a story, and that is why I love Evocateur.  Each one of a kind piece is handmade using 22k gold leaf or sterling silver leaf over brass, each piece takes 5 days to create! Evocateur uses a variety of unique processes, such as a hand gilding technique to ensure the most high quality and beautiful collections. Sometimes less is more when it comes to accessories, but with that comes the need for every detail to be absolute perfection.  Here at Meadow our jewelry cases are overflowing with this type of perfection…and we couldn’t be happier to share them with you!

Take a peek at some of our favorite Evocateur pieces below:

Bubbles & Balloons

Tuesday, July 24th, 2012

Summer is flying by around here.  Ella turned TWO a little over a month ago and I am just now sitting down to tell you about the details!  She had the best little birthday party….. Bob and I had just as much fun as she did!

I can hardly believe that so much time has flown by….I know that is so cliche…but it is really crazy.  She went from being the cutest  little baby to being a gorgeous little girl in what seems to be overnight.  I wish I could freeze her right here….she is so funny, such a little chatter box,  full of life and laughter, and has the best personality!!!

We didn’t have a 1st birthday party, so this year we decided to go all out.  We had some of her friends (and ours) over for a little backyard playdate and everyone had a great time!

The theme was BUBBLES & BALLOONS!  Two of Ella’s absolute favorite things.  I can’t drive past the grocery store without her screaming for a BALLOON!  We entertained the kids with balloons, a balloonist, tons of bubble machines, lunch & we entertained the parents with morning cocktails….mimosas and screwdrivers!  The back yard was filled with balloons…which I was a little nervous about.  I wasn’t sure if the kids would cry when they all started popping or if they would have fun…..but since Ella didn’t cry I thought I would give it a shot.  SO GLAD I DID…  THEY LOVED IT!!!  I wish we had 200 more…they loved popping them in the grass.  They were giggling & chasing them around like crazy.  The balloonist made whatever the kids wanted her to make….they loved her & the bubbles machines were a huge hit too!

Bob and I hand delivered a balloon in a box to all of the little ones that were invited to the party.  We gave the boys a yellow polka dot balloon wrapped with green and turquoise ribbon and the girls got a pink polka dot balloon wrapped with pink and green ribbon.

Here are a few of the 400+ pics from the party!!!

This is my favorite picture from the whole party!!!  A friend of mine took this  and I’m obsessed with everything about it….the little wrinkles in her nose, her squinted eyes, her fingers, her little laugh, the bubbles…the moment was totally captured!  THANKS ASHLEY!!!

Ella had so much fun at her party….she is still singing “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” to herself and blowing out anything that looks remotely like a candle!

If anyone is looking for a theme for your two year old’s birthday party…..I highly recommend BUBBLES & BALLOONS!!!!  Everyone had a blast!  Hope you are all having a great summer!

XOXO,

Susanna

Sheridan French

Monday, April 2nd, 2012

If you have been following our blog…you probably read my post last year about one of our favorite designers SHERIDAN FRENCH!!!  If you haven’t heard of her….here she is!

She is the cutest thing ever and not to mention designs amazing clothes! She is all about chic and easy to wear silouhettes made with hand woven and dyed fabrics created in Bali.  She uses bright ikat designs adorned with colored trim and embellishments!  I have really gotten to know Sheridan the past couple of seasons and she is so much fun!   Her personality is just as fabulous as her designs!!!  She lives in Fort Worth, TX with husband and two children…soon to be three.  How is she doing all of this….a career that is blowing up, and raising her little munchkins?  Find out here on her blog, “The Southern Eclectic”  (http://sheridanfrench.blogspot.com/ ) this is her life as an open book and is definitely worth checking out.  You will fall in love with Sheridan as soon as you start to read!  This girl has a lot on her plate with two babies….another one on the way and a full time job!  She handles her biz on her own and I give her a ton of credit for being able to juggle it as well as she does.  We can’t wait to see what else is to come for this talented designer.  She may take a much needed break after baby #3 arrives in the next few weeks…..but you haven’t seen the last of Sheridan French!

Here are some of our favorite styles for 2012!  Hope you love them as much as we do…which one is your fav???

Happy Happy THANKSGIVING!!!!

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

Where has the year gone?  I can’t believe it is already Thanksgiving!  I am so sorry that I have been out of touch this Fall!  I have been busy busy with a new house, a bubbly toddler and of course the store!!!  I am trying to come up for air and have several posts in the works so please stay tuned for some updated blogging from MEADOW in the coming weeks!

In the meantime I couldn’t let one of my favorite holidays pass us by without telling everyone hello and wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I am so thankful for so many things in my life!  MY list could go on and on….like it did last year…..but this year I am most thankful for my sweet and adorable husband (who is the most amazing father to our little munchkin) and for our baby girl!!!  MY life would not be complete without the two of you!

I am also SOOOOO THANKFUL for MEADOW &  the MEADOW girls; AMANDA, CATHARINE & JESSIE!  There is something to be said for loving what you do and loving who you’re with and I can honestly say that not a day goes by that I don’t count my blessings because I ADORE the girls that work here at the store and I am so lucky to have each and every one of you!  (I don’t have a pic of the three of you….or I would post one here….I’m going to work on that!)

So instead I will post one more pic of what I am MOST thankful for in life!

I hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow….full of love and laughter with friends & family and of course a  yummy meal to go with it!  Bob and I will be in the kitchen tonight after Ella goes to bed!  I am in charge of cooking the squash casserole and Bob is in charge of the berry cobbler…..I can’t help but think it is pretty cute that my husband VOLUNTEERS every holiday to make the cobbler :)   He came home this morning with $90 worth of fresh fruit!  This is a man who is proud of  his cobbler!  Maybe I will share one of his secret recipes with you one of these days!!!  We will be spending tomorrow at my parents house.   My mom is one of the best cooks I know….she has taught me everything I know….HAHAHAHA!!!   Actually…..I do love to cook and I really am pretty decent in the kitchen….I guess you should ask  Bob or some of my closest friends if you want an honest opinion on that!!! :)

Happy Happy Thanksgiving to EVERYONE!

It is no secret that the 70′s are back and with that came the BELL BOTTOM!!!  For some it may be easy to pick up the trends with each season that passes, while others are sitting around wondering what to do with their skinnies that they are just getting used to.  While I am a huge fan of my skinny jeans with an easy pair of sandals or boots, I am definitely embracing the Bell with a chunky heel or a fun wedge!  Here are some MEADOW favorites that will not disappoint!

Olmos Park meets Santa Barbara….

Monday, November 1st, 2010

Last Tuesday, The City of Olmos Park, held a Town Hall Meeting to present the Conceptual Vision Plan for our little neighborhood to the Residents and Merchants in the area.  The collaboration of the THE VISION PLAN was prepared by local architect firm Michael G. Imber.  They did a wonderful job presenting the plan and addressed many concerns and questions with local residents and merchants during the 2.5 hour meeting.

Here is a glimpse of what may be in store for our charming historical area!

Olmos Park Vision Plan

Of course those of you who are familiar with the area will recognize “The Fountain” (and of course the building just behind it…MEADOW!!!).  The development to the right side of the drawing will be new.  Thethought is to make our building and the fountain somewhat of a town center in Olmos Park – creating a gathering place for the community.  Imber did their homework…they collaborated with other small communities such as Santa Barbara and put together a great proposition that can be read in detail here.

Imber gave examples of how simple upgrades to signage, architecture, and landscape elements (benches, fountains, ground plantings and trees) could make our little neighborhood feel like one of the town villages we have always wanted to live in….but that would have entailed us moving somewhere else…. like California!  If the Vision Plan becomes a reality we really may be able to live in one of the picturesque places that we once were only able to visit.  Having grown up in the area I will say that I think the Vision Plan is long overdue and would bring so much class and even more charm than we already have to this area.  I hope that they are able to start putting the Vision into Action before too long.

Here are a few more pictures that were given as examples to show what the Vision Plan is trying to achieve in terms of creating a downtown/small community feel to Olmos Park.

walkability

Wouldn’t it be fun to look out of the shop windows on a Saturday afternoon in April and see this in our new Olmos Park Town Center…..

The view.....

As with most urban development there will be growing pains and this Vision will have plenty, but after last weeks meeting we are one step closer to an improved Olmos Park.   There are many questions that still need to be answered before this happens, but I am excited that there is a vision.

Thank you to Olmos Park Economic Development Corporation and Michael G Imber Architects for working so hard to better our community.  We look forward to being a part of the transormation for years to come!

If you love Olmos Park as much as we do…post a comment and let us know what you think about THE VISION PLAN!
