Ring my BELL….

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

It is no secret that the 70′s are back and with that came the BELL BOTTOM!!!  For some it may be easy to pick up the trends with each season that passes, while others are sitting around wondering what to do with their skinnies that they are just getting used to.  While I am a huge fan of my skinny jeans with an easy pair of sandals or boots, I am definitely embracing the Bell with a chunky heel or a fun wedge!  Here are some MEADOW favorites that will not disappoint!

The Princess Diaries

Saturday, April 30th, 2011
A day of perfection for Prince William and Princess Kate!  A true modern day fairytale! The royal wedding was flawless, spectacular in every way, & most importantly filled with grace and love!   I was one of the 2 billion people that set my alarm clock for 3 am to watch the events of the morning unfold.  Could anyone else imagine being in Kate’s shoes?  It was so much fun watching the guests arrive at the Abbey, the crowd lining the streets, the horses and buggies….a day truly fit for a real life Princess!
Princess Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge
Her dress was the perfect combination of classic and modern.  Designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen with a bodice of ivory satin and hand-cut english and french Chantilly lace.  It was truly magnificent!
The eight-tiered wedding cake was decorated with 900 delicate sugar flowers!

Wishing the royal couple a lifetime of love and happiness!

Weekend Delish….

Friday, April 15th, 2011

Bob and I love when our work week has come to an end so that we can spend time with Ella  being lazy and doing all of the things we don’t have a chance to do during the week!  One of the most important things being weekend breakfast!  Don’t let me fool you…it doesn’t happen EVERY weekend, but we do like to get in the kitchen and get creative with whatever we have in the fridge.  Bob is usually the AM chef, while I am the PM chef…he lets me sleep in on Saturday every now and then…for which I am so very thankful!!!  I recently stumbled upon this recipe on one of the 10,000 blogs I read and thought it was a must share!  I realize this takes a little more planning, a trip to the grocery for the ingredients and preparation…but it sure looks worth it!  You be the judge!  I am a total sucker for french toast and really anything breakfast for that matter….

ENJOY!

Brioche french Toast, stuffed with Mascarpone and Marmalade

For batter:
1 cup crème fraiche or sour cream
2 cups milk
6 eggs
1 oz brandy or…
2 TSP vanilla
½ cup sugar
2 tsp salt
Orange or lemon zest
Nutmeg

For toast:
6 slices bread 1” thick, with pocket cut from small hole on one side
6 oz mascarpone
8 oz marmalade

Combine all ingredients and whisk together until well-combined.

With jam and cheese in piping bags, fill each piece of bread, being careful to not over-fill, and keeping the ingredients within the pocket and away from the opening.

Dip each slice in batter and allow to soak thoroughly, then drain well.
On a hot griddle, begin by searing the opening, ensuring that it has cooked shut before continuing to cook until golden brown on both sides. Serve immediately

One of a Kind Jewels

Monday, March 28th, 2011

This Wednesday is not only our annual Fiesta Frocks party at Meadow, but we are also having a trunk show & guest appearance from Ex Voto jewelry designer, Elizabeth Adams! Ex Voto is truly one of a kind jewelry that any woman would want to add to her collection. Elizabeth finds unique antique and vintage lockets, pocket watches, pendants, keys and crosses and brings them back to life.

Ex Voto is definitely something I am excited about adding to my jewelry box! I am currently obsessing over the long pocket watches….and know I will find more to obsess over when I see what Elizabeth brings to the show!

Ex Voto fun fact…..Ex Voto was included in the Golden Globe goodie baskets this past year!   Here are a few pics of some of the necklaces that went out to the lucky stars and how they were packaged!  I wonder who is wearing what???

Please stop by tomorrow from 3-7 and welcome Elizabeth to San Antonio!

Remember….10% of all sales will benefit Respite Care of SA

See you tomorrow!

An Incredible Cause

Monday, March 28th, 2011

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting the director, staff and adorable children at the Davidson Respite Care House of San Antonio.

I walked through the doors of the  Respite House around 11:00 on Wednesday afternoon and I truly could have spent the entire day there.  I could tell by the smiles and laughter that these kids feel like they are part of a family.  The Respite House is many things, but to these children it is everything!

Respite Care of San Antonio is licensed by the State of Texas to provide shelter to children with developmental disabilities who have been removed from their home as a result of abuse and neglect.  Respite Care is a licensed child placement agency. After a child resides in the Davidson Respite House, they may be placed in a loving foster home with a family trained and supported in providing the care required by a child with special needs or into an adopted family home.  They are the only child placement home in the state licensed to take in children with disabilities, therefore they have children from all over Texas that are living in the home.  This is not an orphanage.  The director and staff truly make Respite Care a loving home for these children until they are able to place them in a more suitable and/or permanent environment.

Respite Care offers additional services for families in the community as well.  They have a Day Care Center, a Mother’s Day Out Program, and Weekend Day/ Night Out Services.  They understand the challenges that parents with disabled children face and hope that by providing these services they can help families strengthen their foundations!

Respite Care cares for infants, toddlers and school age children.  What the people at Respite Care do each and everyday takes a huge amount of strength, a well trained staff, medical professionals, and of course money to house, feed and clothe these children.  Sure they get some from government grants, but that would not be enough to keep this place in the pristine order it is in today….that is where people like us come in!

MEADOW is having our annual FIESTA FROCKS party this Wednesday from 3-7!

10% of proceeds will benefit Respite Care of San Antonio!

Please come out and support what I have found to be an incredible cause!

Anyone can help!

The images are heartbreaking….

….like scenes from a movie that one would hope could never happen in real life….

I find myself glued to the news every time I am in front of a television and each day the images seem to get worse and worse.

The death count rises, the nuclear plant has more explosions, loved ones are still missing, towns and lives have been washed away forever.  I sit at home on Baby Monday feeling completely helpless.  My heart goes out to all of those people who have lost loved ones, those who don’t know where to begin looking for theirs, and all of the lives that have forever been altered by natures catastrophic events in Japan.  Seeing as I cannot be there to offer my help I want to try and do my part from afar and I hope those of you reading our blog will to!

Here is a list of organizations that are contributing to the relief efforts in Japan.  Every $.01 helps!

I cannot even begin to imagine the devastation that the people of Japan are experiencing at this very moment.  You can never be prepared for something of this magnitude…. but people around the world can help them rebuild with small donations!

MEADOW will be donating 5% of our proceeds this week to Global Giving!

The Red Carpet

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

We all love watching the glitz and the glamour walking the red carpet, but no red carpet is better than the red carpet at the Oscars!  Here are my top red carpet picks from the 2011 Academy Awards!

Gwyneth was glistening from head to toe…she really looked chic in her metallic Calvin Klein gown with her Louis Vuitton jewels and I must admit I would love to hang this Calvin Klein beauty in my closet!

Natalie was radiant in her violet Rodarte dress with Swarovski crystal beading, Jimmy Choo high heels and Tiffany & Co jewels.  She really is glowing!  I wish I had looked like this :)

Last but certainly not least, Michelle Williams, bedazzled me in her white Chanel Haute Couture gown with Harry Winston jewelry.  She looked like a real movie star!!!

Who was your fav???

Be our Valentine!!!!
