Sheridan French

April 2nd, 2012

If you have been following our blog…you probably read my post last year about one of our favorite designers SHERIDAN FRENCH!!!  If you haven’t heard of her….here she is!

She is the cutest thing ever and not to mention designs amazing clothes! She is all about chic and easy to wear silouhettes made with hand woven and dyed fabrics created in Bali.  She uses bright ikat designs adorned with colored trim and embellishments!  I have really gotten to know Sheridan the past couple of seasons and she is so much fun!   Her personality is just as fabulous as her designs!!!  She lives in Fort Worth, TX with husband and two children…soon to be three.  How is she doing all of this….a career that is blowing up, and raising her little munchkins?  Find out here on her blog, “The Southern Eclectic”  ( ) this is her life as an open book and is definitely worth checking out.  You will fall in love with Sheridan as soon as you start to read!  This girl has a lot on her plate with two babies….another one on the way and a full time job!  She handles her biz on her own and I give her a ton of credit for being able to juggle it as well as she does.  We can’t wait to see what else is to come for this talented designer.  She may take a much needed break after baby #3 arrives in the next few weeks…..but you haven’t seen the last of Sheridan French!

Here are some of our favorite styles for 2012!  Hope you love them as much as we do…which one is your fav???

March 5th, 2012

We picked out a few of our go-to trends for this Spring.  Strut the streets in these and you’re sure to be looking stand-out fab this season.

It seems like all the designers are gravitating towards this effortlessly chic style again and again.  Made by pairing bright, bold colors that are sewn together to make one fabulously dramatic piece.   Don’t be afraid to throw in a little neon or pastel to mix it up this season!  You can also style the trend yourself by pairing two (or more) solid colored garments together and voilà!  To pump it up even more mix in different colored accessories (shoe, handbag, belt, or jewelry)!  Don’t forget to get yourself a pair of colored jeans….or maybe a couple of pairs!!!  Have fun with it!

This style of coat is often spoken of  interchangably with the parka jacket. Stylistically speaking, anoraks have cuffs on the sleeves and a distinctive waist, which cinches in the mid-section for an oh so flattering look!  This waterproof jacket will not only keep your hair dry with it’s hood, but will highlight everyone’s feminine curves. It seems that many designers have created an updated version of the traditional anorak for those spring showers or just to throw on and run around in.  One of our all time favs pictured below by Ali Ro…it comes in a variety of colors.   We stock them in black and khaki.  Call us if you would like to RESERVE ONE….we have a shipment arriving soon!  These  jackets truly fly off the racks year round…they make every outfit look oh so chic.  I have one in black and I can throw it on over anything and it totally transforms my look!  People stop me all the time asking me where I got my jacket.  I must say that seeing the model pictured below makes me want the navy too!

Diane Von Furstenberg is the queen of bold prints and other designers have been taking notice. Meadow’s racks are filled with bright colored frocks with stand out prints.  A bold print can be easily paired with denim or any neutral for a quick, fresh outfit or stand alone on a dress.

Tangerine is the color for Spring! Whether on a blouse or an accessory, we will be seeing this bright hue all over the streets.  Update your wardrobe with a pop of color!

Not only are brights as popular as ever, but designers are mixing in more pastel hues this spring to mix it up. Designers are modernizing the pastel by infusing them in prints and updated silhouettes bringing the rather dated pastel from zero to hero! An updated pastel is not just for Easter this year!

Sedgwick Handbags

December 14th, 2011

Childhood friends, Ashley Baker and Carly Beck are in their second season of designing handbags that are classic, casual & effortlessly CHIC!  Their Fall collection can be found here at MEADOW and every piece is amazing.  I have yet to see a handbag line at this price point pay such close attention to quality and detail.  These are truly bags that you will have for a lifetime.

After working 15 years in the New York fashion industry the two have joined together to form their collection of leather goods known as Sedgwick. The friendly duo debuted Sedgwick in Spring 2011 while working their current jobs, Carly as the brand director for brands such as Diane Von Furstenberg and Steven Alan and Ashley as the executive editor for The Daily Front Row!!!!   The pair named their line after the county in which they grew up, Sedgwick County, Kansas….in Witchita.

The collection’s style is faint for both the ladylike and the wild at heart. Sedgwick prides itself on the value and quality of their leather handbags. They strive to create easy to carry silhouettes ranging from $250 – $600. All of their manufacturing is done in Manhattan, NY!

Here is a peak at some of the pieces you can find here at Meadow!   I am honored to be one of the lucky stores carrying this up and coming handbag line and to be working with such talented designers.  The clutches are to die for & they really hold all of the necessities for a night on the town!  I have one and love carrying it out for a night out with my hubby or friends.  They work well back to cocktail dresses just as easily as they do with a pair of jeans.  This line is so chic and versatile!

Happy Happy THANKSGIVING!!!!

November 23rd, 2011

Where has the year gone?  I can’t believe it is already Thanksgiving!  I am so sorry that I have been out of touch this Fall!  I have been busy busy with a new house, a bubbly toddler and of course the store!!!  I am trying to come up for air and have several posts in the works so please stay tuned for some updated blogging from MEADOW in the coming weeks!

In the meantime I couldn’t let one of my favorite holidays pass us by without telling everyone hello and wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I am so thankful for so many things in my life!  MY list could go on and on….like it did last year…..but this year I am most thankful for my sweet and adorable husband (who is the most amazing father to our little munchkin) and for our baby girl!!!  MY life would not be complete without the two of you!

I am also SOOOOO THANKFUL for MEADOW &  the MEADOW girls; AMANDA, CATHARINE & JESSIE!  There is something to be said for loving what you do and loving who you’re with and I can honestly say that not a day goes by that I don’t count my blessings because I ADORE the girls that work here at the store and I am so lucky to have each and every one of you!  (I don’t have a pic of the three of you….or I would post one here….I’m going to work on that!)

So instead I will post one more pic of what I am MOST thankful for in life!

I hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow….full of love and laughter with friends & family and of course a  yummy meal to go with it!  Bob and I will be in the kitchen tonight after Ella goes to bed!  I am in charge of cooking the squash casserole and Bob is in charge of the berry cobbler…..I can’t help but think it is pretty cute that my husband VOLUNTEERS every holiday to make the cobbler :)   He came home this morning with $90 worth of fresh fruit!  This is a man who is proud of  his cobbler!  Maybe I will share one of his secret recipes with you one of these days!!!  We will be spending tomorrow at my parents house.   My mom is one of the best cooks I know….she has taught me everything I know….HAHAHAHA!!!   Actually…..I do love to cook and I really am pretty decent in the kitchen….I guess you should ask  Bob or some of my closest friends if you want an honest opinion on that!!! :)

Happy Happy Thanksgiving to EVERYONE!

Two Minds are always better than ONE!!!

September 6th, 2011

I am obsessing over Of Two Minds Fall 2011 collection!  If you haven’t already introduced yourself to this designer now is the time!  Last year the L.A. based clothing line took on designer, Sunjoo Moon and the results are gorgeous!  I have been following this line for several seasons and it wasn’t until this season that it really made a huge impression on me.  The attention to detail and quality that Moon has put into each and every piece really is remarkable coming from a contemporary designer.  This Fall 2011 you will see native prints, loose silhouettes, leather & textured knits…a little SoCal hippie meets urban chic is their style for this season!  The jackets in this collection were particularly stunning….each style was luxurious & perfectly tailored!  It was hard to choose one jacket from the collection…but this leather beauty below is the one I chose for MEADOW!  I hope you like it!

If you see something you like….you know where to find it!

Mi Casa!!!

August 1st, 2011

I am a wee bit late in my reporting on some exciting news…we bought a NEW HOUSE!!!  We closed back in May, but since then we have been doing some serious remodeling and it is taking up any extra energy that I have on reserve.  Who am I kidding….I am running on Starbucks these days!

The house was built in the 20′s, and is a two-story Spanish Mediterranean  house.  We refinished all of the hardwood floors, painted all of the walls, painted the kitchen cabinets, added on a laundry room to the back of the house, remodeled Ella’s bathroom, and remodeled the back house.  Our next project will be painting the exterior and some serious landscaping!  The addition is still a work in progress so we haven’t been able to move in yet….crossing my fingers that it is soon!!!  I will post pics when some of the mess gets cleaned up!

My first design project now that construction is in full swing is Ella’s room!  I never really decorated a proper nursery for her when she first hatched….we knew we weren’t going to be here very long.  Needless to say I think I threw it together in literally two weeks with things that we had in storage from my sisters babies, some of my parents hidden treasures in their storage units and a few odds and ends!  So….it’s time and I am going all out!  Seeing as she is already 14 months I am going to softly transition her into a little girls room!

If you know me….you know I LOVE color & print!  Here is the rug I am currently OBSESSING OVER…..this website is amazing and I have been reading amazing things about this company.  They will customize any size, make a rug with color swatches you select from a color palette in your own home….the possibilities are limitless!  Their services and fabulousness don’t come cheap….but I love rugs…they can make such a statement in a room and I think I could splurge for this IKAT beauty!

This is just the beginning of my hunt for fabulous finds!  I’ll keep you posted on my decorating diaries!

Star Spangled Style

July 1st, 2011

Something about the 4th of July gets me really excited every year!  I am not sure if it is all the planning that goes into making it a fun day (or this year a long weekend!), the true spirit behind the holiday or just good ole American Red White and Blue fun!  Most of the time I feel like we are off on a beach vacay somewhere with family & friends, but this year we are relaxing in SA and I am planning on loving every minute of it!  We will most likely do a little BBQ’n with friends and sit by the pool.  Who am I kidding?  There is no sitting happening at the pool these days with Ella in tow!!!  Which is really quite entertaining, because she is a total water baby just like her daddy!   Regardless of what we end up doing July 4th  will be  tons of fun!  Whether it’s with food, fashion or decor let your patriotic side shine this 4th of July!   These are just a few of my inspirations!

Frozen things are the way to my heart…. You may see me swerving off the road in any given beach town to get a snow cone ( I swear I wanted to buy a snow cone stand once when the best little hut in my little FL town was about to close), as a child I stocked my parents fridge with those frozen POP ICE popsicles…DELISH…I probably still would if I had room in my freezer, and when I was pregnant I would blend up just about any fruit juice with ice and make my own slushi every night.   You can see why this recipe jumped out at me when I stumbled upon it!  It kind of reminded me of a fresh take on the old school bomb pop!  I will be making these for my 4th of July party……wherever it may be….they look insanely refreshing for these 102 degree days we are having.

2 cups BLUE Kool-Aid, Powerade or Gatorade
2 cups lemonade
2 cups cran-raspberry juice
12 craft sticks
12 5-ounce disposable cups

1. Divide the blue juice equally among the cups and freeze for 30 to 45 minutes.
2. Divide the lemonade equally among the cups and freeze for another 30 to 45 minutes.
3. Place a craft stick in the center of each popsicle so that it is stuck in the part that is already frozen.
4. Add the cran-raspberry juice equally and place back in freezer until solid.
5. To remove pops, run outside of cup under warm water.

If you are the official hostess this 4th of July you may need to be going a bit further in your preparations!

You can go all out with the decorating or you can keep it simple and classic with a few strategically placed pinwheels and paper stars. Decorate a table with mixed textiles and white hydrangeas, throw in a tasty beverage of your choice and you have a beautiful july4th table scape.

Once the hard work is behind you….let the fashion begin!!!!  Here are a few of the things the girls at the store have picked out especially for this holiday!  We still have a few in store so if you are needing the perfect outfit for your little Fiesta…you know where to come get your Star Spangled glam!

This 12th st by Cynthia Vincent belted caftan would be fab for any celebration and it is adorable over white jeans..please note…this model is 12 feet tall and it is not this short on the average chica so it can be worn as a dress or as a tunic!

This Haute Hippie dress is AMAZING!!!!  Hands down one of my favs in the store right now…(I wore this little beauty to RED DOT with an incredible necklace and gold sandals!!!)  Jewel yourself up and you are ready to go!  ****again models legs are a mile long…not nearly this short on the average diva!

How simple yet sexy is this one shoulder number from LEONA?  Perfect for your 4th of July party!

However you plan to celebrate this 4th of July have fun, be safe, and most importantly don’t forget to wear a little red, white & blue!

HAPPY 4th of July!!!!

Today was one of those days that I couldn’t quit smiling!  Kelly, our BEIRN rep, e-mailed me to let me know that we had been credited in their feature on VOGUE’S most wanted list!  If you don’t own a BEIRN handbag or accessory….now you know where to find one and so does everyone else that reads’s most wanted!!!  Pretty exciting!!!  Sorry for all of the exclamation marks, but I can’t stop smiling so I figured you might as well see that through my punctuation!  Vogue is one of the most well respected (if not the most) publications in the fashion industry and I am SOOOOO excited to have MEADOW grace their cyber pages!  Thank you to everyone at BEIRN and for the credit!!!!!
