Spring is in the air…..

Saturday, January 29th, 2011

What I would give to have these beautiful Cherry Blossom trees lining our streets….GORGEOUS!!!

While cherry blossoms may not be in full bloom quite yet….it is definitely beginning to look a lot like spring inside the store!  Being in retail I must admit I really do love the change of fashion seasons…even though they come months ahead of any kind of real seasonal change.  By the time Christmas comes and goes I am beyond done with fall clothing and ready to see happy colors and fun prints hanging on the racks and walking in and out of our dressing rooms.  In fact today was a great day to put my boots in the closet and break out my flops…my pale feet may not have thought the same…but I didn’t care…it was time to let these babies get some fresh air.  It was in the 70′s here in San Antonio today and tomorrow the high is 78!  Kind of ridiculous for January, but I am not complaining.  I have market trips to fill my need for freezing cold and possibly snowy weather.

The end of January is an uplifting time at MEADOW!  Our big sale has come to an end and we have brightened up our floor with vivid colors, tons of prints, shorts and dresses.

Tibi, Rebecca Taylor, Tucker, & 12th Street…..just to name a few!

Here is a sneak peak at some of the treasures we have been trying on lately……

I LOVE THIS LOOK!  Everything about it….the 12th Street Sunburst caftan…oh so chic, the layered jewels, the wavy beach hair…  This dress can take you so many places.  A night out with the girls, a fun date with your hubby or boyfriend, or dress it up with a fabulous pair of evening shoes…(I dream of LOUBOU’s), take of the long chain necklaces, tie your hair up in a pretty chignon… and wear it to a wedding.  Who wouldn’t want something this versatile in their closet?

There is sooooo much more to come.  As you have heard me say before….Spring 2011 fashion is so very me & I get excited every time a new box arrives.  Come see what we have in store for Spring!

Market Travels!

Monday, September 27th, 2010
I am just returning from a loooooooong week in New York…but it was a blast!  I took Ella with me…and my mom (AKA…the Nanny :)  ) The week would have been horrible if I hadn’t been able to come home to this adorable little face every night!  She had the best time…she tried on sunglasses and hats at Barney’s, had dinner at Nello on Madison Avenue, got her picture taken with the gaurd at FAO Schwartz, strolled in central park and was truly perfect….even on the plane!  Oh the life of a 3 1/2 month old!

Ella!

Back to business…..Let me just say that Spring 2011 looks AWESOME!  I haven’t been this excited about an upcoming season for as long as I can remember.  70′s colors and prints were everywhere…oh….and hold onto your military green because it doesn’t appear as though it is going anywhere anytime soon!

Here’s a peak at a couple of our designers runway shows from Fashion week!

Rebecca Taylor Spring 2011 Runway

Alice and Olivia Spring 2011

Does anyone else love the look of the 70′s as much as I do….?

I mean….Boho Chic….please come and stay a while…a long while!  I know Boho has been gracing us with its presence for a while now, but this upcoming spring it will be here in full swing!  Every designer I carry at the store (and all of the new ones I will be getting in for spring!!!!) were 70′s inspired to some degree…whether it was in the solid color palettes they chose or their retro prints….it was everywhere.  The 70′s look can definitely make some look as if they stepped right out of the Brady Bunch, but there is another approach that can make one look like a Boho diva with effortless chic & classic style.  I feel like I touch on this subject all the time, but I can’t stress enough how I think everyone should try to achieve this look and their lives will become just that…effortlessly chic!  Add a little boho to your wardrobe  this spring and you will be pleasantly surprised!

P.S. I think I felt the first breath of Fall outside this morning…it inspired me to rock my boots to the store today…eventhough the high ended up being 82 degrees!

Happy Monday….night!

Product Junkie

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Are any of you product junkies?  One month I am and the next I am not…..maybe it has something to do with the weather?  Regardless, this month I am totally into new lotions and potions and anything that will help my tired mind, body and soul feel more alive!  Do any of you have a miracle cream for tired eyes?  If you do….please post a comment and let me in on the secret!

Here is a peak into my product obsessions of the moment!

1.

YSL- Volume Effet Faux Cils Mascara

I have been using this little treasure of a mascara for over a year now….I seriously have had people stop me and comment on my eyelashes.  Without this mascara…people wouldn’t even know I had any!

2.

Roger & Gallet Shiso Hand Lotion

Something I don’t go to sleep without….my favorite hand lotion.  It sits next to my bed and every night I lather up!  My husband loves it too.  He always asks me to pass it over when I am done with my nightly ritual!

You can find this little gem over at Lin Marche (one of my all time favorite stores!!!)….just across the circle from MEADOW.

3.

Bobbi Brown - Long Wear Cream Eye Shadow

Does anyone else have trouble with their eye shadow creasing….especially in this summer heat?  I don’t anymore, but it used to drive me crazy.  By the end of the day my eye shadow was smudged and gross (at least I thought it was).  Then I stumbled upon this fabulous find at the Bobbi Brown counter at Neimans.  Now my eye shadow stays put all day long!  I use the Bone color as my base eye shadow.  It is a great neutral that blends in with my skin and allows me to wear whatever eye shadow I want to on top of it.

4.

Pureology Shampoo and Conditioner

My hair looks dry and brittle when I don’t use this…it makes my hair silky smooth!  I use the moisturizing formula (purple bottles) and I don’t leave town without a travel size bottle in my suitcase!

5.

Nivea...A Kiss of Moisture

I take this everywhere with me! In fact I have several of them floating around purses, drawers and make-up bags!  If you haven’t already tried it…go get yourself a couple!  Your lips will thank you….and so will your man!

6.

Seda France - Hyacinth Candle

Seda France candles fill the room with delicious scents.  You can find a good selection here at MEADOW. We burn one of these babies almost everyday and whichever one we happen to be burning gets snatched up by our favorite customers!  Seriously one is not any better than the next….they are all great!  We also have our own personalized candles with the MEADOW  logo on them from Seda….

Comment on this post and we will give you a gift with purchase next time you stop by!

That’s all for today!

Closet Therapy……….

Monday, August 23rd, 2010
How many times do you see pictures of Eva Longoria, Rachel Bilson, Giselle and Heidi and wish you could be as put together as they are?  The reality is they look put together in anything.  They pull off the effortless chic look that everyone should try and achieve! The only difference between your closets is that they don’t really have the budget that most women survive on and they likely have a stylist that has pulled their entire closet together to simplify their day!
The question is how can you achieve this?????
Meadow is now offering stylist services!  Call me to set up an appointment and I will come over and help you assess your wardrobe, get organized to make your mornings easier, and help you fill in the blanks.
My tips to achieving your own sense of style:
1)  Find a fashion idol – Do you lean towards Audrey Hepburn’s eternal chic, Kate Moss’s edgy simplicity…or something in between?

Audrey Hepburn

or

Kate Moss

2 )  Pair the unexpected and take a risk

3 )  Realize that your wardrobe is a reflection of your perception and your current self…make it your own!

I realize I am no stylist to the stars….but at some point we could all use a little help!  We all know what it is like to get dressed in the morning or before we go out at night and think to ourselves, “ I have nothing to wear, and I need a new wardrobe.”  The reality is you may have a closet overflowing with possibilities that you can’t even see.
If you have the core basics for every woman’s closet with a little fluff to make your wardrobe fun then you should have what it takes to be effortlessly chic in today’s world.
Call or e-mail me today to set up your style assessment!

Fall 2010 TREND REPORT…..

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

Ready or not….Fall is here…at least in stores that is.

It is hard to even fathom black, sweaters, boots and scarves when it is 100+ degrees outside….welcome to the fashion world!  I have always been somewhat of a buy now wear now type shopper (except at market)…but I used to always miss some of the most sought after pieces of the season by waiting until it gets cold here in TX.

Here are the must have items for every fashionistas wardrobe for Fall 2010…don’t miss out!

Leopard print was in just about every collection I saw at Fall market back in February.   From textured furs to trendy accessories (and everything else in between), leopard is a must have for Fall.  I ordered my fair share of leopard this season so you know where you can find it!

Remember, animal print can be flawlessly chic or turn you into a  fashion disaster.  Try limiting your ensemble to either one garment or a fab accessory to let out your inner animal!  Pair a leopard blouse with a clean pair of denim or a neutral pant….or throw on a scarf to jazz up your look!

Coming soon….

Leopard Scarf - By Malene Birger

The color of the season is army green!

Army green is not new this season, but it is still a must have for Fall!  This color seems to have some serious staying power in the fashion world…we have been seeing it show up on runways for several years.  A couple of good things about adding this neutral color to your wardrobe is 1) it goes with everything…black, brown, beige, and denim and 2) you can dress it up or down for the easy day to night look.  Wear it by day with your favorite boots or gladiators and throw on your bronze metallic wedges for a night on the town.  This color has been around for many seasons…if you don’t already have it, this Fall is the time to add it to your wardrobe.

LEATHER…..available in just about all items of clothing.  You will find leather pants, skirts, shorts, jackets, capes and vests.  I mean EVERYTHING leather for Fall 2010!  Of course everyone needs a staple leather jacket in their wardrobe.  My favorites from this season are Mike & Chris and Poleci….Mike and Chris has arrived, but you will have to wait until October for Poleci…think buttery soft black leather with a touch of fur!

Mike & Chris "Russell" jacket

FURRRRRR…while I realize how controversial fur can be in todays world…I am not one that is opposed to the real thing; however I kept it clean for my Fall purchases and ordered the look for less!  There was so much fur for Fall that it was hard to choose which pieces to buy.  Here is my favorite that you will see here at MEADOW !  If you read my blog regularly…you already know this is my favorite….I think I have posted pictures of it two or three times since I found this treasure in their NY showroom!

Rebecca Taylor "Faux Fur Vest"

Worn with a simple tee and jeans….PERFECT!

On to your SOULS…..Clogs are the must have shoe for the season.  Pick a pair any pair and wear them with everything!  Here are two of my favorites with the perfect look paired with each!

CLOGS

The DVF Octavia is a clog/wedge combo…which was also done by See by Chloe…another favorite!

See by Chloe Slingback Wedge Clog

Don’t forget to add these staples to you wardrobe and you are sure to be a diva!

The Kurta….JUST IN!

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

The Kurta:  a simple traditional Indian tunic that has been transformed into modern beach and resort wear.

While I realize we don’t live at a resort or on the beach…most of you know that is where my heart is after living in paradise for 7 years!  These tunics are perfect for our hot and humid TX climate…regardless whether or not you are near water!  Wear them over a skinny pair of white jeans for summer and transition them to fall with a pair of JBRAND dark skinnies….or simply over your bathing suit at the pool!

The Kurta

Roberta Freymann is a New York based designer who has been coined “The Queen of the kurta.”  100% cotton voile, the kurta is the foundation of Roberta Freymanns line Roberta Roller Rabbit.  The Kurta continues to be the most sought after piece in her entire collection.

Roberta Freymann

In 2003, Roberta launched her world with two complementary yet distinct signature collections: Roberta Roller Rabbit and her namesake….(both can be found at MEADOW).  Robertas designs offer a chic global style at an affordable price!

After selling out of our first summer shipment in a week we decided to place another order!  It is now on the racks here at MEADOW and the prints are vibrant,  fun and did I mention AFFORDABLE!

Below are a couple of prints as well as the one above that we have in stock…..we have several others so come by and see what everyone is talking about!

Perfect for a UT football game!

ONLY ONE LEFT!!!!

After visiting her showroom last February, I was entranced by the colorful prints, the jewelry, the home goods and all of the accessories.  I couldn’t leave without ordering a few of these….

Roberta Roller Rabbit - CUFF

 and…a couple of these!

BABY BLANKET - Pink Elephant print

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Ella’s baby blanket in pink elephant print!  My sister and I had baby girls 4 months apart and we love laying these soft blankets on the ground and letting them roll free (well…Ella isn’t quite rolling yet, but Lillian is)!  If anyone is looking for the perfect little baby gift that any mother would love we would be happy to order one for you!  They come in a variety of prints, are offered in every color…and are priced at $60.00!

Jet Set with Gypsy!

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

Not traveling to an exotic country this summer? Neither am I, but I know how to fake it! Just in here at Meadow, eclectic jewelry by Gypsy will make you look like you stepped straight out of a Turkish bazaar. Why pay airfare when you can find global treasures right here at Meadow?

Unique and whimsical, each piece from the line is handcrafted using jewelry making techniques from the age of the Ottoman Empire. My personal favorite is the line’s oversized filigree cuff. Made out of brass that is plated with oxidized gold, this statement piece looks like it could have come from the jewel box of an Indian princess. A clasp studded with turquoise and coral completes this beautiful piece.

GYPSY CUFF

And why stop at your wrists? Gypsy’s gorgeous chandelier earrings are dripping with enough turquoise, coral, and pearl to make a Sultan jealous. They are must haves for all stylish globetrotters (and pretend globetrotters)!

GYPSY Chandelier Earrings and Ring

So while you’re wasting away in front of the A.C. this summer, put on a unique piece by Gypsy, burn some incense, and pretend that you’re far, far away.
