Bob and I love when our work week has come to an end so that we can spend time with Ella being lazy and doing all of the things we don’t have a chance to do during the week! One of the most important things being weekend breakfast! Don’t let me fool you…it doesn’t happen EVERY weekend, but we do like to get in the kitchen and get creative with whatever we have in the fridge. Bob is usually the AM chef, while I am the PM chef…he lets me sleep in on Saturday every now and then…for which I am so very thankful!!! I recently stumbled upon this recipe on one of the 10,000 blogs I read and thought it was a must share! I realize this takes a little more planning, a trip to the grocery for the ingredients and preparation…but it sure looks worth it! You be the judge! I am a total sucker for french toast and really anything breakfast for that matter….
ENJOY!

Brioche french Toast, stuffed with Mascarpone and Marmalade
For batter:
1 cup crème fraiche or sour cream
2 cups milk
6 eggs
1 oz brandy or…
2 TSP vanilla
½ cup sugar
2 tsp salt
Orange or lemon zest
Nutmeg
For toast:
6 slices bread 1” thick, with pocket cut from small hole on one side
6 oz mascarpone
8 oz marmalade
Combine all ingredients and whisk together until well-combined.
With jam and cheese in piping bags, fill each piece of bread, being careful to not over-fill, and keeping the ingredients within the pocket and away from the opening.
Dip each slice in batter and allow to soak thoroughly, then drain well.
On a hot griddle, begin by searing the opening, ensuring that it has cooked shut before continuing to cook until golden brown on both sides. Serve immediately

This Wednesday is not only our annual Fiesta Frocks party at Meadow, but we are also having a trunk show & guest appearance from Ex Voto jewelry designer, Elizabeth Adams! Ex Voto is truly one of a kind jewelry that any woman would want to add to her collection. Elizabeth finds unique antique and vintage lockets, pocket watches, pendants, keys and crosses and brings them back to life.

Ex Voto is definitely something I am excited about adding to my jewelry box! I am currently obsessing over the long pocket watches….and know I will find more to obsess over when I see what Elizabeth brings to the show!
Ex Voto fun fact…..Ex Voto was included in the Golden Globe goodie baskets this past year! Here are a few pics of some of the necklaces that went out to the lucky stars and how they were packaged! I wonder who is wearing what???

Please stop by tomorrow from 3-7 and welcome Elizabeth to San Antonio!
Remember….10% of all sales will benefit Respite Care of SA!
See you tomorrow!

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting the director, staff and adorable children at the Davidson Respite Care House of San Antonio.

I walked through the doors of the Respite House around 11:00 on Wednesday afternoon and I truly could have spent the entire day there. I could tell by the smiles and laughter that these kids feel like they are part of a family. The Respite House is many things, but to these children it is everything!
Respite Care of San Antonio is licensed by the State of Texas to provide shelter to children with developmental disabilities who have been removed from their home as a result of abuse and neglect. Respite Care is a licensed child placement agency. After a child resides in the Davidson Respite House, they may be placed in a loving foster home with a family trained and supported in providing the care required by a child with special needs or into an adopted family home. They are the only child placement home in the state licensed to take in children with disabilities, therefore they have children from all over Texas that are living in the home. This is not an orphanage. The director and staff truly make Respite Care a loving home for these children until they are able to place them in a more suitable and/or permanent environment.
Respite Care offers additional services for families in the community as well. They have a Day Care Center, a Mother’s Day Out Program, and Weekend Day/ Night Out Services. They understand the challenges that parents with disabled children face and hope that by providing these services they can help families strengthen their foundations!

Respite Care cares for infants, toddlers and school age children. What the people at Respite Care do each and everyday takes a huge amount of strength, a well trained staff, medical professionals, and of course money to house, feed and clothe these children. Sure they get some from government grants, but that would not be enough to keep this place in the pristine order it is in today….that is where people like us come in!
MEADOW is having our annual FIESTA FROCKS party this Wednesday from 3-7!
10% of proceeds will benefit Respite Care of San Antonio!
Please come out and support what I have found to be an incredible cause!
For more information on Respite Care of San Antonio please visit their website!

The images are heartbreaking….

….like scenes from a movie that one would hope could never happen in real life….

I find myself glued to the news every time I am in front of a television and each day the images seem to get worse and worse.

The death count rises, the nuclear plant has more explosions, loved ones are still missing, towns and lives have been washed away forever. I sit at home on Baby Monday feeling completely helpless. My heart goes out to all of those people who have lost loved ones, those who don’t know where to begin looking for theirs, and all of the lives that have forever been altered by natures catastrophic events in Japan. Seeing as I cannot be there to offer my help I want to try and do my part from afar and I hope those of you reading our blog will to!
Here is a list of organizations that are contributing to the relief efforts in Japan. Every $.01 helps!

I cannot even begin to imagine the devastation that the people of Japan are experiencing at this very moment. You can never be prepared for something of this magnitude…. but people around the world can help them rebuild with small donations!
MEADOW will be donating 5% of our proceeds this week to Global Giving!

We all love watching the glitz and the glamour walking the red carpet, but no red carpet is better than the red carpet at the Oscars! Here are my top red carpet picks from the 2011 Academy Awards!

Gwyneth was glistening from head to toe…she really looked chic in her metallic Calvin Klein gown with her Louis Vuitton jewels and I must admit I would love to hang this Calvin Klein beauty in my closet!

Natalie was radiant in her violet Rodarte dress with Swarovski crystal beading, Jimmy Choo high heels and Tiffany & Co jewels. She really is glowing! I wish I had looked like this

Last but certainly not least, Michelle Williams, bedazzled me in her white Chanel Haute Couture gown with Harry Winston jewelry. She looked like a real movie star!!!
Who was your fav???

It was LOVE at first sight the day that this INCREDIBLY talented new designer, Sheridan French, sent me her first lookbook. Spring 2011 is her debut season and I am honored and so excited to be one of the first stores to carry her line. Let me just tell you…this girlie is going to make it big! Sheridan prospected stores across the country that she wanted to see her first collection in and MEADOW was lucky enough to be one of them! She put together the most beautiful lookbook I have ever seen from a young designer…really any designer….
take a look here…

(click on the image above and take a peak inside)
When this baby was delivered by our trusty mailman I was blown away by EVERY detail….(yes, I am still talking about a lookbook). First let me just say that most mailers and lookbooks from designers and showrooms hardly get noticed….because we get SOOOO many. This beauty was a page turner…in fact I could hardly put it down! Needless to say…the next thing I did was pick up the phone and call to get more info! I had just finished working on orders from New York market and was really overbought for Spring…of course I managed to figure out a way to make room for these lovelies and I am so glad I did! Sheridan French is by far my favorite new line for Spring 2011!
Meet Sheridan…

An incredibly talented mother of two from Ft Worth, Texas who followed her dreams in starting her own label. Isn’t she adorable?
Read more of her bio here.
Read her blog, “The Southern Eclectic,” here.
Sheridan’s collection is vibrant, chic, classic, and versatile. Her eye for textiles is impeccable and she has a true knack for design. Here are a couple of the pieces that have arrived and/or will be coming soon!

We have several other tunics that I don’t have photographed that will be here in the next couple of weeks! It is incredible the amount of local buzz she has gotten just from the Meadow girls chatting her up to our customers! I seriously had a waiting list to call when the first shipment arrived! If you see something you LOVE or have any inquiries about the line please don’t hesitate to call, e-mail us or post a comment!

For those of you who know me and who have been to the store you may already know that I have a passion for design! I have always loved color, texture, patterns, architecture, interiors and of course fashion….you get the picture! My problem is I have the vision, but I don’t have the hand to put any of my ideas onto paper or execute them for that matter. I always wanted to go to a high profile design school such as Parsons, but was intimidated by the lengthy applications that required extensive portfolios…that I did not have. If I were to be presented with the Parsons applications again…I can promise you I would not be intimidated. My portfolio has always been in my head….I guess that is why my love for design remains a passion! When I was in my teens and in college you could have asked me any day and I would have said I want to be a fashion designer….after graduating that was still in my mind, but architecture and interior design was a close second! Opening Meadow truly gave me the opportunity to explore everything I have ever dreamed of doing….I designed almost every aspect of the store with the consulting of a few other brilliant minds, chose all of my fixtures, fabrics and of course the clothing. It took forever, but was worth the wait!
Bob and I keep talking about buying a new house….we really are outgrowing the home we are in now and with that comes a new project for me to work on! Of course first we have to find the perfect house for the FIVE of us….Bob, Ella, me and our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (Sophie & Yaya)! So here is what my passion has been driving me to do in my spare time….I look at Elledecor.com and determine how I am going to make my new home look like something out of a magazine! I would be happy with any of these spaces!

(All Photos are compliments of www.elledecor.com)
Hope everyone is having a lovely week!!!

2010 was a great year in fashion! I loved seeing the prints, fur, and leather walking down the runway.

However, with 2011 only days away we are already looking ahead to the latest and greatest and what you need to be prepping your closets for! Start off 2011 shopping for these trends and you will be ready for Spring!
1. That 70′s show…

From bell bottoms to classic floral prints the 70′s are back in a BIG way!
2. Minimalism

Silky separates, simplicity, and neutral or bold/ solid color palettes…. This look will make you chic for every occasion.
3. To the floor….
(Skirts & Maxi dresses)

Fuller, longer, maxi dresses and skirts are giving the mini a run for its money!
4. Anything in Print

Abstract prints move from the canvas to your clothing!
5. Color block

The color palette for spring is bright and colorful! Pair two brights together to follow this trend!

I am already excited for NY market in February to see what will be in store for next Fall!

We are hosting a trunk show with jewelry designer Kathy Bracewell tomorrow at the store and could not be more excited! Kathy is the designer of Agate Ranch + Marfa. Her jewelry line consists of unique and rare Marfa agate stones and she incorporates one of a kind vintage milagros’, rosary seed beads, lava, mother of pearl & turquoise into each piece. She recently sent us a box of her necklaces and we immediately fell in love! They are different than many agate necklaces I have seen. She has left the natural beauty in the stones and each piece makes a bold statement!
Here’s a sneak peek….

Come by the store tomorrow to see her full collection of one of kind pieces! Kathy will be making an appearance between 4-7 pm! Come have a glass of wine, meet the designer, try on some rocks and get in the holiday spirit!
Hope to see you soon!
