Happy Happy THANKSGIVING!!!!

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

Where has the year gone?  I can’t believe it is already Thanksgiving!  I am so sorry that I have been out of touch this Fall!  I have been busy busy with a new house, a bubbly toddler and of course the store!!!  I am trying to come up for air and have several posts in the works so please stay tuned for some updated blogging from MEADOW in the coming weeks!

In the meantime I couldn’t let one of my favorite holidays pass us by without telling everyone hello and wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I am so thankful for so many things in my life!  MY list could go on and on….like it did last year…..but this year I am most thankful for my sweet and adorable husband (who is the most amazing father to our little munchkin) and for our baby girl!!!  MY life would not be complete without the two of you!

I am also SOOOOO THANKFUL for MEADOW &  the MEADOW girls; AMANDA, CATHARINE & JESSIE!  There is something to be said for loving what you do and loving who you’re with and I can honestly say that not a day goes by that I don’t count my blessings because I ADORE the girls that work here at the store and I am so lucky to have each and every one of you!  (I don’t have a pic of the three of you….or I would post one here….I’m going to work on that!)

So instead I will post one more pic of what I am MOST thankful for in life!

I hope you all have a wonderful day tomorrow….full of love and laughter with friends & family and of course a  yummy meal to go with it!  Bob and I will be in the kitchen tonight after Ella goes to bed!  I am in charge of cooking the squash casserole and Bob is in charge of the berry cobbler…..I can’t help but think it is pretty cute that my husband VOLUNTEERS every holiday to make the cobbler :)   He came home this morning with $90 worth of fresh fruit!  This is a man who is proud of  his cobbler!  Maybe I will share one of his secret recipes with you one of these days!!!  We will be spending tomorrow at my parents house.   My mom is one of the best cooks I know….she has taught me everything I know….HAHAHAHA!!!   Actually…..I do love to cook and I really am pretty decent in the kitchen….I guess you should ask  Bob or some of my closest friends if you want an honest opinion on that!!! :)

Happy Happy Thanksgiving to EVERYONE!

Star Spangled Style

Friday, July 1st, 2011

Something about the 4th of July gets me really excited every year!  I am not sure if it is all the planning that goes into making it a fun day (or this year a long weekend!), the true spirit behind the holiday or just good ole American Red White and Blue fun!  Most of the time I feel like we are off on a beach vacay somewhere with family & friends, but this year we are relaxing in SA and I am planning on loving every minute of it!  We will most likely do a little BBQ’n with friends and sit by the pool.  Who am I kidding?  There is no sitting happening at the pool these days with Ella in tow!!!  Which is really quite entertaining, because she is a total water baby just like her daddy!   Regardless of what we end up doing July 4th  will be  tons of fun!  Whether it’s with food, fashion or decor let your patriotic side shine this 4th of July!   These are just a few of my inspirations!

Frozen things are the way to my heart…. You may see me swerving off the road in any given beach town to get a snow cone ( I swear I wanted to buy a snow cone stand once when the best little hut in my little FL town was about to close), as a child I stocked my parents fridge with those frozen POP ICE popsicles…DELISH…I probably still would if I had room in my freezer, and when I was pregnant I would blend up just about any fruit juice with ice and make my own slushi every night.   You can see why this recipe jumped out at me when I stumbled upon it!  It kind of reminded me of a fresh take on the old school bomb pop!  I will be making these for my 4th of July party……wherever it may be….they look insanely refreshing for these 102 degree days we are having.

Ingredients:

2 cups BLUE Kool-Aid, Powerade or Gatorade
2 cups lemonade
2 cups cran-raspberry juice
12 craft sticks
12 5-ounce disposable cups

Instructions:
1. Divide the blue juice equally among the cups and freeze for 30 to 45 minutes.
2. Divide the lemonade equally among the cups and freeze for another 30 to 45 minutes.
3. Place a craft stick in the center of each popsicle so that it is stuck in the part that is already frozen.
4. Add the cran-raspberry juice equally and place back in freezer until solid.
5. To remove pops, run outside of cup under warm water.

If you are the official hostess this 4th of July you may need to be going a bit further in your preparations!

You can go all out with the decorating or you can keep it simple and classic with a few strategically placed pinwheels and paper stars. Decorate a table with mixed textiles and white hydrangeas, throw in a tasty beverage of your choice and you have a beautiful july4th table scape.

Once the hard work is behind you….let the fashion begin!!!!  Here are a few of the things the girls at the store have picked out especially for this holiday!  We still have a few in store so if you are needing the perfect outfit for your little Fiesta…you know where to come get your Star Spangled glam!

This 12th st by Cynthia Vincent belted caftan would be fab for any celebration and it is adorable over white jeans..please note…this model is 12 feet tall and it is not this short on the average chica so it can be worn as a dress or as a tunic!

This Haute Hippie dress is AMAZING!!!!  Hands down one of my favs in the store right now…(I wore this little beauty to RED DOT with an incredible necklace and gold sandals!!!)  Jewel yourself up and you are ready to go!  ****again models legs are a mile long…not nearly this short on the average diva!

How simple yet sexy is this one shoulder number from LEONA?  Perfect for your 4th of July party!

However you plan to celebrate this 4th of July have fun, be safe, and most importantly don’t forget to wear a little red, white & blue!

HAPPY 4th of July!!!!

The Princess Diaries

Saturday, April 30th, 2011
A day of perfection for Prince William and Princess Kate!  A true modern day fairytale! The royal wedding was flawless, spectacular in every way, & most importantly filled with grace and love!   I was one of the 2 billion people that set my alarm clock for 3 am to watch the events of the morning unfold.  Could anyone else imagine being in Kate’s shoes?  It was so much fun watching the guests arrive at the Abbey, the crowd lining the streets, the horses and buggies….a day truly fit for a real life Princess!
Princess Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge
Her dress was the perfect combination of classic and modern.  Designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen with a bodice of ivory satin and hand-cut english and french Chantilly lace.  It was truly magnificent!
The eight-tiered wedding cake was decorated with 900 delicate sugar flowers!

Wishing the royal couple a lifetime of love and happiness!

One of a Kind Jewels

Monday, March 28th, 2011

This Wednesday is not only our annual Fiesta Frocks party at Meadow, but we are also having a trunk show & guest appearance from Ex Voto jewelry designer, Elizabeth Adams! Ex Voto is truly one of a kind jewelry that any woman would want to add to her collection. Elizabeth finds unique antique and vintage lockets, pocket watches, pendants, keys and crosses and brings them back to life.

Ex Voto is definitely something I am excited about adding to my jewelry box! I am currently obsessing over the long pocket watches….and know I will find more to obsess over when I see what Elizabeth brings to the show!

Ex Voto fun fact…..Ex Voto was included in the Golden Globe goodie baskets this past year!   Here are a few pics of some of the necklaces that went out to the lucky stars and how they were packaged!  I wonder who is wearing what???

Please stop by tomorrow from 3-7 and welcome Elizabeth to San Antonio!

Remember….10% of all sales will benefit Respite Care of SA

See you tomorrow!

Anyone can help!

The images are heartbreaking….

….like scenes from a movie that one would hope could never happen in real life….

I find myself glued to the news every time I am in front of a television and each day the images seem to get worse and worse.

The death count rises, the nuclear plant has more explosions, loved ones are still missing, towns and lives have been washed away forever.  I sit at home on Baby Monday feeling completely helpless.  My heart goes out to all of those people who have lost loved ones, those who don’t know where to begin looking for theirs, and all of the lives that have forever been altered by natures catastrophic events in Japan.  Seeing as I cannot be there to offer my help I want to try and do my part from afar and I hope those of you reading our blog will to!

Here is a list of organizations that are contributing to the relief efforts in Japan.  Every $.01 helps!

I cannot even begin to imagine the devastation that the people of Japan are experiencing at this very moment.  You can never be prepared for something of this magnitude…. but people around the world can help them rebuild with small donations!

MEADOW will be donating 5% of our proceeds this week to Global Giving!

The Red Carpet

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

We all love watching the glitz and the glamour walking the red carpet, but no red carpet is better than the red carpet at the Oscars!  Here are my top red carpet picks from the 2011 Academy Awards!

Gwyneth was glistening from head to toe…she really looked chic in her metallic Calvin Klein gown with her Louis Vuitton jewels and I must admit I would love to hang this Calvin Klein beauty in my closet!

Natalie was radiant in her violet Rodarte dress with Swarovski crystal beading, Jimmy Choo high heels and Tiffany & Co jewels.  She really is glowing!  I wish I had looked like this :)

Last but certainly not least, Michelle Williams, bedazzled me in her white Chanel Haute Couture gown with Harry Winston jewelry.  She looked like a real movie star!!!

Who was your fav???

Be our Valentine!!!!
